Day 292-3 May 17-18, 2017 Rest day in Odessa, then ride to Andrews, TX

Sometimes you just have to take what the weather gives you. Sailing has taught us this, and so has bike touring. Our original plan for today: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/20810482
Today's weather forecast was for WSW winds at 19 mph with occasional gusts over 40.
Hell no.
Our actual route today: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/21265395
We left the hotel by 07:45, and got to Andrews before check out time for our new hotel. We were on a busy highway all day, but it had a wide shoulder. Overall a good ride.

We were headed north today, so we had to get the obligatory, it's an hour after sunrise shadow photo.

Eighty percent of the day, this is what we saw.

I remember reading some where that the U.S. Cavalry experimented with using camels at one time. Several were known to have gotten loose, and there is a population of wild camels in the desert southwest. These were probably domesticated, but still...

Our motel for tonight.

Tomorrow we ride from Andrews to Eunice, NM, and the first new state since we entered Texas on March 12, 2017.
