Day 222 March 9, 2017 Jennings to Lake Charles, LA

Go west young man, or perhaps not so young man Today we went almost due west for the entire day, at least for the first half. Today's route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/19373835   Note the detour at mile 9.4. The north bound and west bound roads were gravel, but not loose packed, so worlds better than yesterday.

Gravel.

End of detour.

We have learned that the water covered fields we pass are full of crawfish (not crayfish, you yankees). We have also noticed that some fields are empty of birds, and some have many birds. No explanation we are aware of.

Yes, our fans still are there in greater or lesser numbers.

On the road today.

You do have to be careful on the road. Remember to read BOTH billboards.

The only real excitement of the day was crossing the Calcasieu River on US-177.

Top of the bridge.

Finally, after 47 miles were behind us, we came to Isle of Capri Casino and Hotel.

Nice room too.

All in all, we had a great ride today. Tomorrow we ride 64 miles to Silsbee, TX. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/19430945
