We are most definitely in the bayou country of Louisiana. Very flat, very wet. It tends to be hot and humid down here; sugar cane grows well, as do crawfish. Louisiana harvests 110 million pounds of the critters every year.
Today, however, the temps were in the low to mid 60's with a NE wind of 12-18 mph. Look can look at our map, and pretty well figure out what kind of day we had. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/19326013 Oh, yeah; we were windstrong.
Catholic cemetery in North Raceland, about five miles into our ride. High water table in bayou country.
We spent about 20 miles of today's ride on LA-20/182, moving almost effortlessly due to our tail wind. Bayous joined us for the whole time.
We stopped for a snack break, and Margaret found a snake in some wildflowers.
Despite Morgan City being only seven feet above sea level, we had one bridge to climb before getting to town. View from the top. I understand the river boat operates as a casino.
Tomorrow we ride 53 miles from Morgan City to New Iberia, LA. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/19326403
Good night.
